The Invacare Kite is a versatile outdoor-indoor rear-wheel drive powerchair. Powerful motors and the unique Dual Swing Technology suspension system give you the freedom to go where you want, all in Invacare's configurable Modulite seating system. Indoors, the incredibly narrow wheelbase of the Kite allows it to manoeuvre through tighter spaces than one would expect from rear-wheel drive.
Featuring Dual Swing Technology, a unique suspension system, the Kite offers a comfortable drive outdoors. This includes a pendulum axis that works in tandem with the central shock absorber, resulting in superior balance, as well as boosting traction. Operating both horizontally and vertically, it allows for independent and combined movements to absorb shock and reduce vibration, giving a smoother ride.
Despite this outdoor performance, the Kite is surprisingly nimble indoors, with an impressively narrow wheelbase of just 23.4 inches allowing it to negotiate tight turns and narrow corridors. This narrow size doesn't compromise the range of the Kite, which is still able to take batteries of up to 73 Ah that can provide a range of up to 24 miles on a single charge. Large 14 inch drive wheels and 10 inch castors combine with 4-pole SSD motors to further complement the outdoor performance.
Manually settable tilt and recline (of up to 120°) are included as standard, while powered positioning options such as lift, tilt and recline are all available. The Kite comes as standard with Invacare's configurable Modulite seating that can be set up to your exact size and needs, and which accommodates larger people with seat widths of up to 22 inches, and a weight capacity of 25 stone. Additionally, a Teens Modulite version is available for younger users, in seat widths of 12 - 15" and depths of 12 - 22", to accommodate the body shape of adolescents.
The Kite was updated in late 2016 with a new design, including improved styling, performance and controls. This includes the LiNX Simply Smart controls, whose modular design allows easy expansion to accommodate changing needs. G-Trac is also available as an upgrade, which removes the need for continually correcting your direction when driving on uneven or sloping surfaces. Finally, a choice of frame, shroud and rim choices are all available as standard, allowing you to customise the chair to fit your tastes.
